Some Suggestions for Musicians Webpage design

I have been connecting to the net since before it was called the internet.   Based on my surfing experiences, these are some suggestions that will make YOUR site more friendly to the people you want to attract.

Don't use pop up adverts.  The sole purpose of pop-ups (in my opinion) is to train people in "how to close a browser window as quickly as possible".  It is annoying, wastes time and most people have pop up blockers.  If you don't have a pop up blocker, get one from www.panicware.com or download the Google Bar.
Do not put autoloading mp3 files on your home page.  Allow the surfer to select a download by all means, but don't assume they have a super fast broadband connection, or the time to sit and listen to all your hard work.  Dial up users will have to spend 20 minutes waiting for your page to load.....and trust me, if it hasn't loaded in 30 seconds, the "dialupppers" just cancel the action anyway.
Resist the temptation to tell the world just how good your music is.   Over use of the words "Hottest" "Greatest" and "the Best Music ever" will mean they actually translate into  "Weakest" "Worst" and "Worst" again. Use other peoples comments about your work, they are more honest and come across more believable.  For example:
"The World's Greatest Up and Coming <insert genre> Band/Artist"
translates to:
"no one's ever heard of them and no one ever will"
whereas:
"Dangerously addictive track..." Metalofwitheringa...
means only one thing - that person loved it, and therefore you might.
Don't take everything to heart.  You WILL come across people who either don't get or plainly dont like what it is you do.  No amount of complaining about how people react will achieve anything.
